Back in 1971, a few GEICO associates started dedicating their time and energy to support Children’s National. Since then, the partnership has blossomed into a full-fledged company-wide campaign. Over the years, GEICO has donated more than $3 million to help ensuring that local children can get the health care they need, regardless of their families’ ability to pay.
“By partnering with companies like GEICO, we are able to meet the health needs of every child we treat, said Dr. Kurt Newman, president and CEO of Children’s National. “We can respond to unanticipated needs, such as disease outbreaks, equipment repairs, and facility maintenance to ensure safety.”
Each year, GEICO sets aside time for an employee giving campaign to benefit Children’s National, which includes several fundraising activities over the course of one month. A core committee coordinates with their specific departments to plan campaign activities. GEICO also holds a live and silent auction. At the end of the campaign this year, the company donated $300,000 in total contributions from GEICO and GEICO associates.
