Amy has been the genetic counselor for the White Matter Disease Program at Children's National Hospital since January 2013. Her goals are to help families better understand genetic diagnoses and how to manage these complex conditions. Research interests include helping to find genetic diagnoses for families who struggle to understand the cause of their child’s condition and learning how families feel throughout the steps to a diagnosis.
During his first 11 months of life, Massimo was hitting all of his developmental milestones, and his parents, Stephen and Sally Damiani, didn’t notice anything out of the norm. Right before his first birthday, the family started noticing signs of regression in Massimo.
