Children's National Safety Center
The Children’s National Safety Center provides a combination of unintentional injury prevention education and accessible safety equipment to children and their families throughout the Washington, D.C. region, as well as all families that visit Children’s National Hospital.
The goal of the Safety Center is to address the significant injury-related health disparities identified in Washington, D.C., and to decrease the large burden of unintentional injury in the region with a focus on five priority areas of preventable injuries:
- Car safety/car seat check
- Home safety/falls
- Infant sleep safety
- Pedestrian safety
- Sports safety

Preventable injuries are the leading cause of death and disability for children under the age of 19 in the United States.
Location and Hours
Operations at the Safety Center will be suspended due to coronavirus (COVID-19). We will continue to follow the hospital's protocol to ensure the greatest safety and health of our patients and their families. We are committed to the well-being of our community and will continue to monitor and update the hours and availability per the hospital and CDC recommendations.
