Message from Future Chief Residents

Welcome and thanks for your interest in Children’s National! We feel so lucky to be able to train in Washington D.C., and care for the children of this area. Our time here has been spent learning from world experts in many fields, exploring advocacy opportunities unique to the nation’s capital and serving a vibrant and diverse patient population. We love this program and can’t wait to tell you all about it.

Here at Children’s National, residents tailor their training to their professional goals. Through our three core residency tracks (Categorical, Community Health and Primary Care) and numerous elective pathways, residents may pursue their own specific career interests upon a foundation of general pediatrics.  For those interested, our REACH program provides residents protected longitudinal research time beginning in their second year.

We take pride in the quality of our education. Residents here gain invaluable experiences in our high-volume inpatient and outpatient settings, while also enjoying at least daily protected resident-and faculty-run educational conferences. Our outstanding faculty, fellows and ancillary staff are dedicated to creating a supportive learning environment in which our residents thrive. Graduates from our program go on to pursue careers in primary care, subspecialty fellowships, graduate programs for global health and policy and advocacy work.

While the clinical training here could not be stronger, what we really love most about our residency program are the people in it. You truly become part of a family when you begin your residency here and we feel privileged to grow with and train alongside fellow co-residents whom we trust, respect, and admire. Last but not least, we love our city.  With its countless options for after work meet-ups and weekend adventures, D.C., is the perfect place to call home during residency.

We’re so excited to meet you and tell you more about our program. Please don’t hesitate to contact any of us with questions.
