Epilepsy Program

Epilepsy Family Education Support Group

Epilepsy is a neurological condition that affects more than your child’s brain – it has a profound emotional impact on your entire family. At Children’s National Hospital, we’ve created a compassionate support group where patients, parents and caregivers can find comfort by connecting with other families facing similar challenges.

We strive to provide families with a wealth of camaraderie, educational resources and a supportive environment where they can exchange helpful information and share questions or concerns about managing epilepsy.

Compassionate Support for Families

Our free support groups throughout the Washington, D.C., area meet regularly for discussions on various topics, including:

  • Difficulty adjusting to new diagnoses, treatment and overall impact of child’s epilepsy
  • Navigating life with epilepsy
  • Parent-child and sibling relationship difficulties
  • Behavior and school difficulties
  • Social and emotional issues
  • Resources and referrals
