Improving health outcomes for children in the community is part of our mission. As the only hospital in the region dedicated exclusively to caring for kids, Children’s mobile health services are one way we help make high-quality care accessible to more children and families in the District of Columbia.
The Children’s Health Project of the District of Columbia provides free, comprehensive health and dental care to children from birth to age 21. Our big, blue wheelchair accessible mobile units visit 11 sites weekly throughout Washington, DC, including several locations near public housing. In March 2012, Children's National expanded to include services to Prince George's County, MD.
The Children’s Health Project is part of a nationwide program supported by the Children’s Health Fund, dedicated to improving access for children to quality health services through mobile-based health care – bringing care to kids in their own community. The program serves approximately 4,000 children through 7,000 visits annually.
Children’s doctors and healthcare professionals staff the mobile units, providing medical physicals and check-ups, screenings, treatments, and behavioral counseling for a wide variety of conditions.
Children’s state-of-the-art mobile dental unit is equipped to provide comprehensive dental care for children right in your neighborhood.
