The Craniofacial Program at Children’s National brings together experts from 10 pediatric disciplines to provide complete care for children with craniofacial disorders. Children’s multidisciplinary pediatric team helps more than 400 children every year.

When your child needs reconstructive surgery for a congenital deformity or other physical abnormality, only pediatric plastic surgeons are uniquely qualified to care for the psychological and physical needs of young patients.

Children’s National has three full-time pediatric plastic surgeons. Nationwide, there are only a handful of plastic surgeons who dedicate their entire practice to care for children.

Treatment is adapted for the severity of the anomaly and your child’s specific needs. Treatment for a child suspected of having a hemifacial microsomia, for example, is based on a thorough physical analysis of the patient and discussions with the family about the treatment options. The severity of an individual patient’s condition, such as deformational plagiocephaly, also affects the treatment approach.
