Bio

Biography

Janet Scheel, MD, is the Medical Director of The Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplant Program at Children’s National Heart Institute. She received both her bachelors and medical degrees from Georgetown University. She then completed an internship in pediatrics at The New York Hospital/Cornell Medical Center before returning to the Baltimore/Washington area for a residency in pediatrics and a fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. She was a faculty member at the University of Maryland until returning to Johns Hopkins in 1999 where she helped grow the pediatric heart transplant program. She has lectured nationally and internationally on pediatric heart transplants. She is a member of the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation, The American Society of Transplantation, and the International Pediatric Transplant Association. In addition, she is on the board of The Pediatric Heart Transplant Study Foundation and The Enduring Hearts Foundation.
