Planning Your Visit
Traveling abroad for medical care brings many challenges for families. As you prepare to travel to the U.S., we hope that the following information is useful to you.
Please read the complete international patient brochure, available in English or Arabic, before arriving. You may also find it helpful to review the hospital’s visitor policies. Parents or guardians should plan to stay overnight with their child when a stay is required.
Plan to arrive in the U.S. one or two days before your child’s scheduled appointment.
For your child to be treated at Children's National, when you arrive, you will need to provide:
- Your child’s complete medical record (including immunization records and any imaging) to give to your care team.
- Valid photo identification for everyone who will be at the hospital: visa, passport, or international driver’s license are all accepted forms of identification.
Children’s National provides international patients with complimentary transportation to and from the airport on the days of arrival and departure. After you make your travel arrangements, contact Global Services to arrange transportation and let us know if your child requires any special services, including wheelchair or stretcher.
On the day of your arrival, if you travel is delayed for any reason, please contact the team through the emergency numbers: +1 (202) 734-8821 or +1 (202) 322-9509 so we may notify our driver.
