Overview: It is an all day class for those new to pediatrics or new to Children’s Hospital. Attendees will be provided with information via lecture, discussion and case studies on trauma system, trauma assessment, care of the pediatric burned patient, closed head injury, pediatric orthopedic injuries including compartment syndrome, forensic nursing via NAT ( non-accidental trauma).

The objective of the Burn Education module are to describe the assessment of a pediatric patient with burn injury, describe the main concepts in the pathophysiology of burns, identify the nursing interventions for the pediatric patient with burns and examine the impact of fluid resuscitation on the pediatric burn patient.
