Our diverse multi-disciplinary research teams are supported in their efforts by an array of research resources spanning a range of capabilities.

Children's Research Institution provides state-of-the-art research resources.  The offices offer a wide range of services in support of the scholarly activities of Children’s National faculty and staff as well as new faculty joining our organization.

Research Administration

Children’s Research Institute provides a centralized administrative infrastructure to support the research community and to ensure compliance with federal, local, and private sponsor regulations as well as terms and conditions.

Academic Affairs

The vision of Academic Affairs is to ensure that Children’s National is a leader in pediatric academic medicine.

Division of Biostatistics and Study Methodology

Led by Avital Cnaan, PhD, a biostatistician with more than 25 years of experience in clinical and translational research, and Robert McCarter, Jr., ScD, an epidemiologist with more than 30 years of experience, the Division of Biostatistics and Study Methodology provides investigators with a full range of state-of-the-art support to plan, implement, and analyze studies requiring quantitative methods and sophisticated data management. 

Biomedical Informatics

The Center for Pediatric Biomedical Informatics was organized in 2006 as a multidisciplinary group comprised of faculty and staff with informatics background, and an interest and/or vision to optimally develop and use the electronic health medical record to both understand and improve the quality of healthcare delivery and research in children.

Clinical Trials Office

The objective of this office is to facilitate the process of moving projects from initial proposal through contract execution for all clinical trials.

Core Facilities

Children's Research Institute’s investigators have access to state-of-the-art centralized areas of technology and expertise. Some of these core facilities are run as a fee for service facility and others are based on collaborative scientific relationships. 

Grants and Contracts Administration and Finance

Our mission at Grants and Contracts Administration and Finance is to facilitate research and other sponsored activities at Children’s National by delivering knowledgeable, responsive, and innovative solution-oriented service. We provide guidance and assistance to faculty and staff on the utilization of sponsored programs.

Research IT

Research Information Technology (IT) is part of the broader Pediatric Health Information Technology Institute (the Bear Institute) at Children’s National Health System.

Regulatory Affairs and Research Compliance

The Office of Regulatory Affairs and Research Compliance ensures that all research conducted at Children’s National is in compliance with applicable standards including standards necessary to maintain the integrity of research.

Office of Innovation Development

The Office of Innovation Development (OID) at Children’s National manages all aspects of intellectual property development, creates strategic business partnerships with external stakeholders, and conducts education programs to foster academic entrepreneurship.
