Children's National Celebrates National Health IT Week October 5-9

In celebration of National Health IT Week, October 5-9, 2015, Children’s National Health System is participating in a number of initiatives with the federal government and the Health Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), including a site visit showcasing technology innovations in practice.

Children's National Health System Hosts First International Pediatric Low-Grade Glioma Symposium

Under the direction of Roger Packer, MD, 35 clinical and translational researchers from across the United States, Canada, and Europe, gathered in Washington, DC, to share cutting-edge research results and create the backbone of future studies, which hold the hope of dramatically changing the ways childhood low-grade gliomas are treated in the future. The conference was co-sponsored by Children’s National and the Pediatric Low-Grade Glioma Association.

Children's National Announces Finalists for Pediatric Medical Device Competition

Eight finalists, representing outstanding pediatric medical device innovations, have been selected to pitch their device concept for a chance to receive one of two $50,000 awards at the Third Annual Pediatric Surgical Innovation Symposium hosted by the Sheikh Zayed Institute for Pediatric Surgical Innovation at Children’s National Health System on Friday, Oct. 23, 2015.

3D Printing at Children's National Featured in U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals Issue

Conjoined twins Tyler and Tyson were featured, along with the team of experts that used 3D printing technology to plan for their separation surgery: Axel Krieger, PhD, Sheikh Zayed Institute, Anthony Sandler, MD, Senior Vice President, The Joseph E.
