MACCHE Services

The Mid-Atlantic Center for Children’s Health and the Environment is a Pediatric Environmental Health Specialty Unit serving the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. Services offered by MACCHE include:

A. Telephone Consultations: 
Parents, physicians, nurses, departments of public health, and others can contact MACCHE toll-free at 1-866-622-2431 for questions or concerns about environmental health. Some of the topics we receive questions about include:

B. Health Education: 
The physicians and environmental health experts at the Mid-Atlantic Center work to increase knowledge and awareness of environmental health issues among children.  At the Mid-Atlantic Center, we provide educational programming at no cost.  Examples of our educational programming capabilities include:

  • Lectures for clinical trainees, students of nursing and public health and undergraduate students
  • Grand rounds and seminars
  • Presenting at conferences
  • Speaking at staff meetings

    C. Resource Guide: 

    As part of the educational component, MACCHE provides access to an organized library that includes a collection of comprehensive electronic materials that may prove beneficial to improving the knowledge of the community on children’s environmental health. The MACCHE also develops training materials and disseminates authoritative information on children’s health and the environment to practitioners, public health officials, parents, and others concerned in the region. Please see the “Resources and Tutorials” section of this website.
