Make a gift

As a nonprofit, Children’s National relies on the generous support of the community in improving the health of children in the nation’s capital, across the country, and around the world.

Children’s Hospital Foundation

Your support will help Children’s National meet the diverse health needs of our community. Through the generosity of individuals and organizations, Children’s National is able to ensure that every child in our area can receive the same level of care regardless of their family’s ability to pay. Donations to Children’s National covers the costs of specialized care, family support, groundbreaking research, and more.

How your donation is used

Your donation will give more children a chance to live a healthy life. When you give to Children’s National, you help our doctors, nurses, researchers, and staff support children through:

  • Specialized equipment, facilities, and therapies that meet the unique needs of children.
  • Community benefits like free wellness and diagnostic screenings, research, and public education about important health issues.
  • Covering the cost of uncompensated care for children whose families are uninsured.
  • Research to develop innovative therapies, improve outcomes, and cure deadly childhood diseases.

Children’s Volunteers

Volunteers are invaluable members of the team at Children’s National and throughout our community.

Children’s Volunteers

Their involvement is instrumental in creating a positive healing environment where children can feel comfortable and their families supported. Children’s National has an active adult volunteer program, and summer opportunities for high school volunteers. It takes only a small amount of time to make a big difference in a child’s life.

Our volunteer program also manages Dr. Bear’s Closet, full of donated toys, games, books, and personal care items for children. These small items make a big difference to the thousands of patients in Children’s play rooms, waiting rooms, inpatient units, ambulances, the Emergency Department and Regional Outpatient Centers, such as Dialysis, Oncology, Surgical Care, and the Health Centers—everywhere in a hospital focused on caring for kids.

A Voice for Children

With a focus on caring for children, it is our responsibility
to advocate on their behalf.

Even a single letter or a call can impact the knowledge, attitudes, and actions of policymakers. Children’s National is a resource for families and friends who wish to voice their support for policies and legislation that promote a lifetime of health and well-being. We give a megaphone to families through our BearNet, a network for the most up to date communications on our priorities and alerts on issues that need critical attention.
