Gerard Gioia, PhD, Partnered in Developing a New Concussion Recognition Mobile App

Dr. Gioia and his patient Isaac Levine were interviewed by WJLA’s Suzanne Kennedy about Isaac’s recent concussion and his road to recovery. Many area coaches and parents use the parents’ and coaches’ mobile app developed by Dr. Gioia and his colleagues to help assess possible concussions in young athletes. A new app for athletic trainers and team physicians supports professionals responsible for diagnosing a concussion on the field and managing the injury with the athlete. More apps are slated for release, including apps for use by pediatricians, schools and by student-athletes to assist symptom management during recovery.
