Research Interests
Susan M. Knoblach, PhD, is an assistant professor in the Center for Genetic Medicine, where she is also manager of the Integrated Molecular Core for Rehabilitation Medicine. She joined the staff in 2005. She earned her undergraduate degree at Pennsylvania State University and her graduate degree at Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis. She studies signaling networks involved in neuronal cell death after acute central nervous system injury or in chronic neurodegenerative disease. Her interests also include utilizing in vitro and in vivo models of cell death to develop systems-based models of injury responses, and to analyze the effects of neuroprotective strategies. She has published more than 30 peer reviewed papers and book chapters.
