Research Interests
Anjali Jain, MD, joined the faculty of Children’s National Medical Center in October 2006 with joint appointments in CRI's Center for Health Services and Community Research and the Goldberg Center for Community Pediatrics. She also works in the George Washington University School of Public Health in the Department of Health Policy, specifically on childhood obesity and obesity policy issues. Dr. Jain earned her undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Virginia, where she later returned for medical school after teaching high school science for two years. She completed her pediatric residency training and chief residency at the University of Chicago. Afterwards, she was a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar at Yale University before returning to the University of Chicago as a faculty member in General Pediatrics. Dr. Jain then worked as a writer and editor for the British Medical Journal Publishing Group in London, England, editing Clinical Evidence and developing a new journal centered on diagnosis. Dr. Jain’s research has centered on obesity prevention and feeding issues, particularly among underserved families, using a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods. She continues to work on evidence-based approaches to public health in general and obesity in particular, including studying the influence of media and the environment on eating and activity behaviors. Dr. Jain also edits a narrative column in the journal Ambulatory Pediatrics.
