Continuing Medical Education

Bernhard L. Wiedermann, MD, Director

Children's National Medical Center's Office of Continuing Medical Education assists the institution in carrying out its mission by supporting and assisting faculty to develop and produce formal continuing medical education activities. These activities provide physicians and other pediatric health care professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to enhance their practice of medicine and improve health care outcomes through a continuing learning process.

Children's Office of Continuing Medical Education sponsors a variety of Conferences and Grand Rounds. Many conferences focus on specific pediatric topics that are of interest to pediatricians, family practitioners, specialists, and other health professionals.

Accreditation
Children’s is accredited by the Medical Society of the District of Columbia to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians. Children's takes responsibility for the content, quality, and scientific integrity of all approved CME activities.

Children's CME activities award physicians credits that qualify for Category I of the Physician’s Recognition Award of the American Medical Association. Participating physicians should claim only those hours that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.

An application for accreditation is currently pending with the Accreditation Council for Contuniing Medical Education (ACCME).
