Infectious Disease Research

Investigators in the Division of Infectious Diseases Research are involved in clinical, epidemiological and basic research focusing on viral and bacterial infection. Areas of focus and expertise include pathogenesis of infectious disease (cytomegalovirus, reovirus, human immunodeficiency virus, viral myocarditis, encephalitis, HIV nephropathy), molecular epidemiology of multi-drug resistant pathogens (including MRSA and hospital-acquired infections), pharmacology and adherence to antiretroviral drug therapy, immunologic response to infection, viral trafficking, and discovery of new treatments for infectious diseases The background and training of our investigators is diverse, consisting of physicians, epidemiologists, laboratory scientists, assisted by basic and clinical research assistants.
