Microarray Center/Public Expression Profiling Resource (PEPR)

The Public Expression Profiling Resource (PEPR) is an experimental program that seeks to develop a simple, intuitive, and user-friendly web-based tool that provides the scientific community access to large microarray data sets while still protecting the individual privacy of patients. Though frequently proprietary, the Center for Genetic Medicine Research believes this information should be available securely to all who need it. The data sets include sophisticated, mRNA expression profiling databases, which are very useful to a wide range of scientists who are researching genetic diseases around the world. The structure and goals of PEPR differ from other mRNA expression profiling databases in a number of important ways.
  • The experimental platform is standardized and is an Affymetrix-only database.
  • PEPR permits gene-based queries of large Affymetrix array data sets without any specialized software.
  • Projects in PEPR originate from scientists worldwide, but all data have been generated by the Center for Genetic Medicine Research, at Children's National Medical Center, Washington, DC.
