|Children's National Names New Vice President of Public Relations and Marketing

Washington, DC – Pam Bylen has joined Children’s National Medical Center as the vice president of Public Relations and Marketing, bringing strategic direction to public and media relations, marketing, advertising, interactive communications, and internal corporate communications, as well as collaboration in philanthropic communications.

Bowens, executive vice president and chief government and external affairs officer. “Pam brings a wealth of experience, a solid track record, and a fresh perspective. She is already making her mark at Children’s National, backed by a strong team of communications professionals.”
With Children’s National, Bylen directs a team of 20 professionals and serves on several strategic planning committees. The Children’s National integrated communications team recently launched an advertising/brand campaign, has enhanced its website, supports traditional and online fundraising, conducts ongoing outreach to physicians and families, regularly secures coverage in regional and national media, and has a strong internal communications program to engage its 5,500 employees.
Bylen most recently served for 14 years as the director of Marketing and Planning for the University of California, San Diego Medical Center. In that capacity, she directed a large team credited with award-winning campaigns successful in building awareness for and referrals to the medical center. Additionally, she navigated the center through a brand identity renewal, launched a comprehensive web site, built a physician liaison program, and served with senior leadership on committees focused on service line oversight, professional development, and external relations.
Prior to her work with UC San Diego Medical Center, Bylen was at Sharp Health Care, San Diego’s largest healthcare system. Prior to that, she worked in advertising with Kenneth C. Smith Advertising in San Diego and Della Femina Travisano in New York City. She began her health care career in marketing communications for Health Alliance Plan in Detroit .
Bylen graduated from Oakland University in Rochester, Mich., with a Bachelor of Science in Management.
