Hermant Sharma, MD, Discusses the Future of Allergy Treatments
December 23, 2013

In a WTOP interview, Dr. Hermant Sharma, the Associate Chief of the Division of Allergy and Immunology and Director of the Food Allergy Program at Children's National Health System, discusses the future of allergy treatments, including the potential replacement of allergy shots for a simple pill or a drop placed under the tongue, which is a delivery method known as sublingual immunotherapy.

Dr. Sharma said, "It would be much easier to have a child take this treatment orally or under the tongue rather than receive an injection."
