Perioperative Services
Nurse Director

The Perioperative Services Department consists of the Operating Room (OR), Surgery Preparation, Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), Sterile Processing Department (SPD), and Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) in Rockville, MD., Radiology, and Endoscopy Unit. Nursing care is provided for patients ranging from infants to young adults. Specialty services are also provided for adults on a limited basis.
The OR in the main hospital has eleven operating room suites, with two additional rooms under construction that opened in March 2009. The ASC in Rockville, MD has two operating room suites. At these sites, care is provided in the following specialties; General, Cardiovascular, Thoracic, Neurosurgery, Orthopedic, Dental & Oral, Urology, Ophthalmology, Gastrointestinal, Plastic, and Otolaryngology.
As our facility is a Level I Trauma Center, Perioperative Services at the main hospital, is staffed on a 24 hour basis to respond to acute trauma, as well as for cardiovascular, renal and bone marrow transplants.
