Inpatient Nurse Director
 Dede Colevas, MSN, RN, CPN

6 East North GI/IRU is a 12 bed unit specializing in the care of intestinal rehabilitation and gastrointestinal patients ages infant to young adult.  The intestinal rehabilitation program consists of pre and post liver transplant, bowel transplant, and short bowel syndrome patients.  The gastrointestinal patients typically include inflammatory bowel disease patients, failure to thrive, and chronic constipation. Many patients stay for weeks at a time.

The nursing staff have expertise in caring for central lines, ostomies, nasogartric and gastrostomy and jejunostomy tubes, TPN, and have had additional education on intestinal rehabilitation. Nursing staff not only specialize in clinical care, but also care for the challenging psycho-social and discharge needs of this population.
