Journey to Magnet

MagnetTM status is the highest national and international recognition of an organization’s professional nurses. MagnetTM nurses exemplify excellence in nursing care and their presence is a benefit to the entire organization. MagnetTM nurses are professionally engaged with their practice and active participants in improvement activities that directly impact patient outcomes. The MagnetTM environment, which promotes a culture of excellence, provides the support, education and mentoring needed for nurses to reach their highest potential and have high levels of job satisfaction.

Here at Children's National we are on the journey to MagnetTM designation. We are committed to meeting the demanding criteria established by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). These criteria include a culture of excellence that is committed to continued quality improvement, nursing leadership, supporting nursing professional growth and excellence in patient care. We hope to achieve MagnetTM recognition in 2009.
