In May 2009 Children's opened two new operating rooms for General and Thoracic Surgery and Orthopaedic Surgery as well as a new waiting area that increases the hospital's capacity to provide surgical services to children.
Dr. Sandler describes the state-of-the art technology in the new operating rooms (ORs) at Children's National Health System. Each of the new ORs are specifically designed for orthopaedic and general and thoracic surgery.
Faisal Qureshi, MD, specializes in general, thoracic, trauma, and emergency surgery in children. He serves as the medical director of the Surgical Care Unit at Children's National.
The Sheikh Zayed Institute for Pediatric Surgical Innovation was made possible through a $150 million gift from the government of Abu Dhabi.
