Nita L. Seibel, MD, is a board-certified pediatrician and pediatric hematologist-oncologist.
After graduating from the Ohio State University College of Medicine in 1988, she completed her internship and residency at the Ohio State University Children’s Hospital in 1984. She completed a fellowship in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology at the Pediatric Oncology Branch, National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health in 1987. She joined the faculty of Children's National Health System in 1988 and is a professor of pediatrics at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. While at Children's National, she has served for over 15 years on the Institutional Review Board, as Director of the Hematology/Oncology Training Program for nine years, and as Principal Investigator for Children's Oncology Group. Dr. Seibel has chaired numerous studies for the Children’s Oncology Group including chairing the Phase I Data Safety Monitoring Committee and served as vice-chair for Phase I agents. Dr. Seibel also was a member of the National Wilms Tumor Study and later the COG Renal Tumor Committee.
Dr. Seibel's areas of special interest are Wilms tumor, bone tumors, ALL, and adolescent and young adult oncology, as well as late effects. She also has a special interest in Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in the adolescent and young adults and anti-fungal agents.
