Marisol's Story: Parent's Letter Project Short gut syndrome- Marisol's mom

My daughter was born with a condition called jejunal atresia. The day she was born she was transferred to Children's National and had surgery performed. She was then diagnosed with short gut syndrome. Marisol has had a hard nine years of life but thanks to the Gastroenterology (GI) team, especially Ginny Gebus and Clarivet Torres, MD, she is doing great! She had a multiple organ transplant in September of 2009 and can now have a "normal" childhood like she deserves. Keep your head up and keep the faith- you're in good hands.

Sincerely,

Marisol's mom, Ingrid
