Alexx's Story: When sweet 16 is even sweeter Cancer

Alexx and her grandmother thought the swelling in her left leg was from cheerleading, a simple injury that just needed some ice. But when the injury didn't heal, further tests revealed it was osteosarcoma, a type of cancer that manifests in the body's larger bones.

At Children's National, Alexx found the treatment and support she needed to move through her cancer journey. Today she's celebrating more than a birthday; it's a new beginning as she embraces a bright and healthy future.
