Children’s National’s Magnet Champions lead nursing engagement in community involvement by sponsoring the St. Ann’s Drive and Cereal Drive every year. The St. Ann’s Drive is program provides support to St. Ann's Center for Children, Youth and Families through two drives a year: back to school and holiday. Donations are collected in the fall season throughout the hospital to provide back to school supplies for the children residing at St. Ann's. During the end of the year holiday season, the program collects hygiene items for the mothers as well as supplies and toys for the children. The program goal is to support disadvantaged/at risk families.
The Cereal Drive is a program provides nutritional support to students who normally receive breakfast at school; nutrition during the summer season for children who may otherwise be without food. Donations are collected throughout the hospital to provide cereal to children and their families during the summer. The program goal is to support disadvantaged and financially challenged families. This program is part of a collaborative including 11 pediatric hospitals nationwide.
