Community Classes
Child Healthcare Partnerships
Children’s National Medical Center and the District of Columbia Department of Health created Child Healthcare Partnerships to educate the community about the importance of primary care services for children. The partnership’s learning sessions give the community a chance to ask pediatric healthcare providers questions in an open and interactive discussion.
A Children’s health educator leads each learning session, where Children’s primary care providers discuss information about primary health care for children and answer questions from participants, such as when to see your primary care provider or go to the emergency room, what are included in annual check-ups and dental exams and how to find a medical home. In addition, applications will be available for free health insurance through DC Healthy Families.
Child Healthcare Partnership learning sessions can be held at community-based sites throughout the District of Columbia, including faith-based organizations, licensed child development centers, Head Start programs, schools, businesses, etc.
