Children’s Opens East Inpatient Tower
Floors 6 and 7
Children’s National continues to grow and expand our physical space to provide the best world-class care to patients. In winter 2010, Children’s National will open floors 6 and 7 in the East Inpatient tower, which are the final floors in the phased transition to the new Tower which began in November 2007.
Children’s National Opens New Blood Donor Center
On June 18, 2009, Children’s National Medical Center dedicated a new Edward J. Miller, Sr., Blood Donor Center, which provides an invaluable service to many patients who need blood products. Children’s National is one of a handful of children’s hospitals nationwide to have an in-house blood donor center.
Children’s Expands NICU Facilities
On May 17, 2009, Children’s National Medical Center opens a state-of-the-art 54 bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit on the 6th floor of the East Inpatient Tower. The new unit is approximately four times larger than the current space, which admits more than 800 patients annually.
Children’s Expands Surgical Services
Children’s National Medical Center recently opened two state-of-the-art operating rooms, increasing the hospital’s capacity to provide surgical services to children. Children’s also opened an expanded waiting area for families whose children are having surgery.
Children's Expands Research Facilities
Children’s Research Institute (CRI) has expanded to increase research space atop the main Children’s National building. This expansion allows researchers to better serve families with world-class bench to bedside care.
East Inpatient Tower
Children’s is proud to announce the opening of new East Inpatient Tower. The new Patient Tower is part of our continuing commitment in transforming children's health. The new Patient Tower officially opened November 18, 2007. The multimillion-dollar project enhances the expert, family-centered care at Children’s.
