Spiritual Care
Chaplains provide all families and patients at Children’s National with important spiritual and mental health services such as visiting patients, performing religious sacraments (ex. Baptisms), calling on patients prior to surgery, and leading worship. Chaplains are also able to help families contact clergy from their denomination or faith group.
Our goal is to facilitate healing and wholeness for children and families in collaboration with other members of their care team. The Office of Interfaith Pastoral and Spiritual Care affirms the sacredness, dignity, and worth of all persons, acknowledges diversity in both individuals and in religious/spiritual traditions, and is committed to the respectful provision of compassionate and competent pastoral and spiritual care.
The Office of Interfaith Pastoral and Spiritual Care also offers Clinical Pastoral Education programs.
