Pre-surgical Tour suspended
September 24, 2009

Children’s National Medical Center is taking additional precautions during this time of increased flu activity. Because we treat many ill children, we want to take every precaution to ensure the safest environment possible.

Until further notice, all hospital tours have been suspended. While we value the support we receive from the community, our first priority is the safety and well being of our patients and staff, and at this time, limiting the number of outside visitors is necessary.

For patients having surgery, our Pre-Surgical Tours on Sunday afternoon have also been suspended. We encourage families to watch our online tour to familiarize yourself and your child with what to expect. We know that a child’s operation can be a stressful time for families. Our Child Life Specialists are available to answer any questions you may have. Our specialists have also put together some resources to prepare for the upcoming surgery.  For more information or for specific questions, contact the Child Life Department.
