Grant Funding

Almost all of the research conducted at Children’s National is grant-funded. More than half of our grants portfolio comes from federal funding. Children’s Research Institute is a top ranked pediatric research institution and children’s hospital in terms of overall NIH funding for research.

Federal Awards
Children’s research portfolio is funded through many federal sources, including the U.S. Department of Defense and the National Institutes of Health. Children’s National annual NIH grant portfolio has grown from $6 million in 1998 to more than $23 million in 2008. For more information about funding or our grants portfolio, please contact
Carmen Mendez, Director of Research Finance.
