Biography

Dr Nandagopal is a member of the Division of Endocrinology and joined Children's National in 2010. Her clinical interests include general pediatric endocrinology, including type 1 and type 2 diabetes. In addition, she does research focusing on adolescents with type 2 diabetes. She is currently conducting a clinical research trial to test the effect on glucose control of assigning youth with type 2 diabetes to a non-medical volunteer (a “buddy”) (Partners for Better Health in Adolescent Type 2 Diabetes: The Buddy Study; clinicaltrials.gov identifier NCT01007266). The study received the 2009 Marilyn Fishman Grant for Diabetes Research from the Endocrine Fellows Foundation. Dr. Nandagopal also has a strong interest in medical education, and currently serves as the CNMC rotation director for pediatric endocrinology fellows from the National Institutes of Health.
