COOL Kids Study - Combating Obesity and Overweight in Latino Kids Ages 7-15


C.O.O.L. Kids (Combating Obesity and Overweight in Latino Kids) focuses on overweight children ages 7 to 15 years old who are at risk of developing type 2 diabetes. This pilot study examines the effect of low glycemic load diets in Latino children, and whether these diets will improve insulin sensitivity and/or reduce body weight.

Several organizations helped fund this important study, including the National Institutes of Health, the Consumer Health Foundation, Kaiser Permanente , and the Jessie Dupont Foundation .
