Tests and Services
Dimercaptosuccinic Acid (DMSA) Renal Scan A DMRSA Renal Scan provides the doctor with a picture of your child’s kidneys. The DMRSA scan shows what the kidneys look like and how the kidneys are working. Your doctor may request this test when your child has a urinary tract infection (UTI) or a kidney infection.
The DMRSA scan is a nuclear medicine study performed by Children’s Division of Imaging and Radiology. The division’s expert technologists and radiologists are also experts in caring for kids. They prepare you and your child for every stage of the procedure. Having a parent present can also help a child relax, and we encourage you to stay with your child as much as possible during before, during and after the procedure.
