Tests and Services
Voiding Cystourethrogram (VCUG) A voiding cystourethrogram (VCUG) allows the doctor see how the urinary system is functioning in real time (live). X-rays are used to take pictures of the bladder and tubes that transport urine, the ureters and urethra. Doctors may request a VCUG to help diagnose Vesicoureteral Reflux (VUR). This condition may prevent urine from flowing in the right direction.
Children’s Division of Imaging and Radiology performs the test in a safe, family-centered environment. The division’s dedicated pediatric staff makes sure that and your child are comfortable throughout the procedure. Because a parent can also help a child relax and feel comfortable, we encourage you to stay close by during the test.
