Mobile Health
Under the leadership of the Children’s National Medical Center and The Children’s Health Fund, the Children’s Health Project of the District of Columbia provides free, comprehensive health and dental care to children from birth to age 21.
Using mobile medical units staffed by doctors and other health care professionals from Children’s Hospital, the Mobile Medicine Project offers physicals and check-ups, dental care, and the diagnosis and treatment of medical problems, illness, or social problems. The staff also provides care and referrals for children with special needs.
The Mobile units visit 11 sites weekly, including several locations near public housing, and recently extended its operational hours at THEARC to offer care for foster children living in the District of Columbia.
