Hearing and Speech
Faculty and staff in the Division of Hearing and Speech at Children’s National Medical Center provide audiology and speech-language pathology diagnostic services, and individual therapy services to children with communication disorders. Computer technology for infant hearing screening is also available.
Children’s is also home to Cozmo the therapy dog. An Airedale terrier that assists patients in using augmentative and alternative communication devices (AAC). Pilot studies show that Cozmo has benefited specific patients, helping them in the use of AAC and overall interactive functioning.
