Psychology
Psychology at Children’s National Medical Center is a growing, dynamic division that provides clinical services, training, and research to children and adolescents. The main emphases of the clinical service are applying multidisciplinary care and treating children with acute or chronic medical illness. Psychology works closely with all divisions and centers at Children’s and with primary care physicians and community agencies. Children’s highly competitive pediatric internship program has long been one of the top programs in the country. Practitioners in the Division of Psychology have published in most of the leading academic journals and receive much in the way of grant support.
Staffing in the Division of Psychology consists of pediatric psychologists, post-doctoral fellows, and four pre-doctoral interns, all specialists in pediatric psychology. There are also several externs from area universities who come to Children’s to receive clinical training. In addition, there are several psychometrists (trained technicians) who assist in test administration.
