Led by Avital Cnaan, PhD, a biostatistician with more than 25 years of experience in clinical and translational research, and Robert McCarter, Jr., ScD, an epidemiologist with more than 30 years of experience, the Division of Biostatistics and Study Methodology provides investigators with a full range of state-of-the-art support to plan, implement, and analyze studies requiring quantitative methods and sophisticated data management.
The Division provides support to all investigators at Children's National and external investigators who direct federally funded consortia in pediatric research. The Division provides biostatistical support to more than 25 federally funded grants, including:
During study planning, the Division provides support in developing study designs, data analysis plans, and sample size considerations. At study implementation, the Division provides study operations and regulatory support including monitoring visits, electronic data capture (EDC) systems, with both web-based and optical scanning data collection systems, as well as data management support. The Division provides statistical data analyses and collaborates with investigators on results interpretation to address research questions.
