Community Outreach and Education Programs

IMPACT DC is committed to increasing asthma awareness and providing evidence-based asthma education throughout the District of Columbia. Our current outreach strategy includes addressing large and small community and school groups; supporting school nurses to most effectively care for and teach children with asthma and their families; and working with primary care providers in the region to improve the quality of asthma care in the child’s medical home.

If you are interested in learning more about the current Outreach IMPACT DC mission, our upcoming outreach events, or if you would like to receive educational handouts please contact us at 202-476-3970 or impactdc@childrensnational.org.

Generous funding from Kohl's and the Stewart Trust enabled us to accomplish the following community outreach and education:

  • Through the IMPACT DC Asthma Clinic and the Mobile Health program, we provided clinical care and one-on-one asthma education to children and their families through 2,342 patient visits.
  • Participated in 23 community outreach events, including the NBC 4 Health and Fitness Expo, and provided asthma education to 90,000 children and families.
  • We reached 1,580 students, parents, teachers, staff and school nurses at DC Public and Public Charter Schools through school based education and outreach.
